5 Year Plan

3/18/19

A common question a lot of interviewers ask is where do you see yourself _ years down the road. While everyone’s initial answer within themselves is “better than now” it is a thought provoking question that wants to analyze if the you took time to put together a road map of achievable steps to get where you want to go. One of the problems is procrastination and most people usually aren’t willing to change something about their lives. With only a week of coding experience it sounds clique, but I would like to say in 5 years I would like to be set. I would like to move out of the basement I’m living in. Titles in technology seem to be a bit more ambiguous than other fields. There are a lot of titles with the same job description and big discrepancies in the pay as well. Because of this, I don’t believe the title is as important. The only requirement would be is to be senior status and be full stack making me more important to any company.

Tech is willing to try more unorthodox approaches to work environments set ups.

A more traditional office environment where you hope to leave at 5pm.

I would like to explore options that allow me to work from home or have offices that aren’t your tradition cubicle. I am also open to the idea of relocating if it means less traffic and no 7 train. To me one of the main appeals of going into a tech career is job security with a good paycheck. I would like to be able to financially support myself and also my aging parents. It’s hard to believe that I am in a free program that is offering to give me the skills need to have a brighter future. Looking back at my first blog it is understandable that it is relatively short and lacks coding concepts. I would also like to define some my short term goals because when you only think long term you lose a sense of urgency. My short term goal at the moment is surviving the 2 week vestibule.I have to stay motivated and continue to strive until my code is better and my code is best.
